BUiLDiNG tNSP[,C] g i
Salem, OR 97304
364-7470
April ~7, 1992

Lee Grimes
Marion County Building Dept.
220 High St. N.E,
Salem, Or. 97301

~e: Drainfield layout

and design.

William Tucker application
lots 17 & 18 Block 9
· Hammond Addition to Detroit.

Attached you
proposed site
primarily for
to January 1,

will find a drainfield layout plan for Mr. Tuckers
in Detroit. This lot is proposed to be used
recreational purposes. This lot was created prior
1974 and Mr. Tucker can provide a copy of the deed

to verify this.
I have contacted Kevin Hill and he should have test holes on
the site dug by now but this will be confirmed.
The drainfield lines have been staked out on the property as
shown in the plot plan and the elevations relate to the water
valve box by the N.W. property corner.
I have calculated that the drainfield requirement for the
initial system should be approximately 134' These calculations
are as follows:
Length = 4 X standard trench/3 + rock depth under pipe (2).
Estimate soil in group B with depth of 36' to 48" which
would require 100' per bedroom.
4 X 100'/3 + 1.5 (2)=400/6.00 = 66.7' per 150 gal.
flow. This should be approximately 134' required for the
primary system.
A sand filter/seepage trench repair system is proposed and
using the above formula with 45' used for the standard drainfield
portion of the equation, this should calculate to approximately
30' of trench required per 150 gallons or room for a total of 60
lineal feet of replacement area.
Please review these calculations and the onsite stakeout and
let me know if you need anything else. The above is based on
soil conditions that have been found on other lots in the area
and I hope they prove to be accurate.
