Soil conditions are not acceptable to
consider the site for a standard system, but the soil is
marginally suitable to construct an alternative sand
filter plus a full capping fill system repair. As the
conditions are marginal, the drainfields must be con-
structed only within the immediate area of the soil test
pits.

The appropriate sand filter system for your three bedroom
residence will include a 1000 gallon dosing septic tank
and 150 lineal feet of drainfield. The drainfield trench-
es must be limited to 12 inches deep ( minimum/maximum)
into the natural undisturbed topsoil. Sixteen inches of
similar capping fill material will be necessary to cover
the shallow drainline trenches. Normally the installation
of the capping fill material is limited to the dry summer
season. Since the repair is necessary at thiM time to
correct and existing health hazard, the drainline trench-
es may need to be constructed to the point of installing
the fill and secured with a protective filter fabric
until the fill material can be installed at a later date.

The plans for the sand filter repair system should be
submitted for a plan review at this time. When the plans
are approved the permit can be issued to a licensed
septic system installer of your choice.

Refer to the enclosed setback list which outlines the
minimum separation distances between components of the
septic system and other features.
