MEMORANDUM:

TO:

FROM:

RE:

MARION COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Courthouse, Salem, Oregon 97301-3670

September 22, 1986

Craig Luedeman

Commissioner Garry

COMMISSIONERS
Gary Heer, Chairman
Randall Fra~ke
Oa~'y Kanz
ADMINISTRATIVE
OFFICER
Ken Roudybu~h

Jay Erickson, Emco Enterprises, Detroit, Oregon
(Phone: 854-3741)

Mr. Erickson came to see me regarding a building permit.
He does have a permit for a pole building, as I understand it, that
contains about 2100 square feet. The building is for storage and it
is on a lot adjacent to his house. Mr. Erickson's situation or problem
is this: He was most dissatisfied with our building department permit
area in that he could not receive the approval on his plans in an
orderly fashion. He indicated that our building department did not
approve his truss structOre for the pole building and that they were
not really conducive to helping him make it work - or telling him
what had to be done in order to put it together. It sounds to me
Craig, that we might need to talk about this a little bit and also try
to see if there is a procedural basis that we can refer to when people
come in with a problem such as non approval of trusses. It is also a
factor that an engineer did not draw the plans for his building. Please
comment.

f
