Marion County

OREGON
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

June 14, 1989

Denny Smith
Congressman, 5th District
State of Oregon
P.O. Box 13089
Salem, Oregon 97309

RE: Request from Mrs. P.P. Wallace-Hardship Mobile t{ome
Application

Dear Denny:

In your June 6th letter you asked if some expenses
connected with Mrs. Wallace's application could be waived
based on inability to pay.

The County may waive fees administratively ifv in
addition to the medical hardship, a financial hardship
is involved. It is seldom done and for obvious reasons
is clearly an exception to policy.

It appears that this case may be eligible for such
consideration, but it may be unnecessary. If the hardship
application is denied, 80% of her Building Ins/~ction
fees will be refunded if the applicant reque~t~t in
writing. If the applica%ion is approved, t~en her
request will be considered and the department will make
a recommendation to the Board concerning waiver of fees.

I anticipate a decision in this case by the first week
in July and feel safe in saying that, if the hardship
placement is granted, SOme waiver will be considered.

Sincerely,

Randall Franke
Acting Chairman

Marion County Courthouse 100 High Street NE - Salem, Oregon 97301-3670
