Due to the lack of fire protection water in this area,
the Salem Fire Department primarily protects structures
by the water available on our fire engines and tankers.
Early fire warning devices and residential sprinkler
systems would serve these residents well in the event
of a fire. Residents should give these options strong
consideration for their personnel and property
protection.

It is also important that an address be predominantly
displayed at the street end of the driveway so that
emergency vehicle can locate the property quickly in
the event of an emergency.

The Marion County Building Inspection Division commented that all
applicable Building Inspection permits are required, as is septic
site evaluation on all parcels proposed for development.

The Marion County Tax Collection Department commented on the tax
status of the subject property, and noted that all delinquent
taxes and interest as well as taxes that have become a lien during
the tax year must be paid before a partition plat can be recorded.

The State Water Resources Department commented:

The proposed land partitions are located in the South
Salem Ground Water Limited Area (SSGWLA). The limited
area restricts uses from wells in the basalt aquifers.

A review of well logs in this section (SS/4W-24C)
indicate that the wells for these proposed lets will
likely develop ground water from the marine sediments.
Well yields in the marine sediments typically are low;
less than 10 gallons per minute (GPM). The yields
generally decrease with time; down to one to two GPM.
Lot sizes must be sufficient to allow for multiple
replacement wells. The maps indicate replacement sites
for drainfields. There should be areas designated for
replacement wells. This is especially important if the
land surface has a slope that limits access for
equipment.

There are areas of landslide deposits in the general
vicinity. While m~rine sediments generally have iow
yields, well yields could be higher in areas of
landslide deposits.

P 02-21 - ORDER -7
KOLOEN
