THE APPROVED SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular traffic, livestock, and farming activities. Other activities such as logging, excavating, or filling, driveway placement, or any similar activities may also damage the soil in the area and adversely affect the septic system approval. The areas of the initial septic system and the future repair system must both be protected. The septic tank must be INSPECTED BY A LICENSED PUMPING SERVICE AT LEAST EVERY TEN (10)YEARS. Per OAR 340-071-0120(2)(c), the system must be evaluated for solids and pumped if over 35 percent, or as needed. Excessive accumulation of these solid materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank and into the drainfield.This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a system failure. OBSERVE ALL SETBACKS AND SEPARATION DISTANCES as required by the DEQ rules. Parking areas must be located where vehicles will not impact any part of the system. A copy of the DEQ setback requirements is available in our office.
