Taylor Property, Claim#3711K475P(3/23/2021) 6 of 7 <br /> Recommendations <br /> All remediation and cleaning should be performed by a qualified contractor in accordance with the <br /> procedures outlined in the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) Guidelines for Fire and Smoke <br /> Damage Repair, Second Addition, 2007, document for cleaning and restoring the structure. <br /> Based on assessment findings collected during the February 20, 2021 investigation, the following <br /> recommendations have been generated: <br /> a. Exterior Surfaces: <br /> i. Exterior fixtures/facades: Surfaces may be washed with a detergent-water mix as <br /> appropriate using manual or power washing methods. Painting of surfaces is not <br /> recommended at this time. <br /> ii. Exterior siding and deck:Cleaning of these items may be dependent on the finish and <br /> ability of the item to be detergent washed, as well as on considerations of value, and <br /> potential contamination. Generally, these items can be HEPA vacuumed and damp wiped <br /> with an appropriate cleaner. <br /> Hi. Exterior furnishings: Porous items (e.g., patio cushion)can generally be machine-washed <br /> twice with hot water and detergent or NEPA vacuum and hand-washed as appropriate. <br /> Non-porous items (e.g., patio table)may be washed and rinsed twice using hot water and <br /> detergent. Replacement of items is not recommended unless cleaning efforts are not <br /> adequate in removing wildfire impact. <br /> b. Interior Surfaces (located directly adjacent to exterior entry points; <5 ft) <br /> i. Interior Window Surfaces:Non-porous surfaces (i.e., window blinds, framing and window <br /> sills), may be washed with a detergent-water mix as appropriate. Painting of surfaces is <br /> not recommended. Non-porous surfaces (i.e., drapes, curtains)may be machine-washed <br /> twice with hot water and detergent or dry-cleaning is also generally acceptable. <br /> 1. If staining identified on the kitchen door curtains can not be removed during <br /> cleaning efforts, replacement of items may be deemed necessary. <br /> ii. Walls and Ceilings: Surfaces may be washed with a detergent-water mix as appropriate. <br /> Painting of surfaces is not recommended at this time. <br /> iii. Flooring: All flooring materials can be HEPA vacuumed and or wet-wiped with a <br /> detergent-water mix as appropriate. Removal or replacement of flooring materials is not <br /> recommended at this time. <br /> iv. Clothing, Household Items, and Other Fabric Items(Porous Items):Washable fabrics, <br /> including clothing, linens, small rugs and other soft items can generally be machine- <br /> washed twice with hot water and detergent. Dry-cleaning is also generally acceptable. <br /> Replacement of items is not recommended unless cleaning efforts are not adequate in <br /> removing wildfire impact. <br /> v. Hard(Non-Porous) Household Goods: Washable household items, including ceramics, <br /> hard plastics, metals and glass, may be washed and rinsed twice using hot water and <br /> detergent. Replacement of items is not recommended unless cleaning efforts are not <br /> adequate in removing wildfire impact. <br /> vi. Household Items Made of Wood and Wood-Like Composites:Cleaning of these items <br /> may be dependent on the finish and ability of the item to be detergent washed, as well as <br /> on considerations of value, and potential contamination.
