Based on EPA's standard,lead levels in 52 and 53 are above the EPA limit for lead dust on floors in <br /> child occupied homes. The sample locations for the two lead samples are not specifically above the EPA <br /> limit as the samples were not taken of dust on the floor where children have greatest potential for <br /> exposure. No lead was detected in the children's play room in the shop,where the highest concern for <br /> exposure was noted. <br /> 52 53 EPA Lead Dust Limit <br /> Attic Joist Pool table on Floors <br /> Lead 13 ug/ft2 20.4 ug/ft2 10 ug/f2 <br /> Combustion Byproducts including Soot, Char and ASH <br /> Two 100 cm2 wipe samples were collected for combustion by-products. These are provided as <br /> percentages of total sample weight. Airborne particulates in the home are not an air quality or health concern. <br /> 2. Heavy metals including Cadmium and Lead may be deposited on surfaces that have not already <br /> been cleaned. All other metals were below OSHA limits and were generally low. This is an <br /> additional concern in homes where children are present. <br /> 3. Both samples taken of dimensional framing(joists) resulted had evidence of soot and char. This <br /> is also likely to be present on all surfaces in the shop and all surfaces in the house attic, including <br /> insulation. <br /> ---4: -in my professional judgement,the following should be additionally cleaned to ensure that <br /> exposure to potential lead,cadmium and soot/char. <br /> a. Surfaces and contents that have been cleaned are not anticipated to present a health <br /> hazard. <br /> b. NEPA vacuum and damp wipe all surfaces in the shop and any surfaces in the home that <br /> have not already been cleaned. <br /> c. Remove insulation from the house attic and from the shop attic and clean all surfaces. <br /> 3 <br />
