NARRATIVE
This survey was made to mark the north, northeast, and east lines of the
several Furer properties described in deeds cited hereon for salvage logging
after the Santiam Fire. The north and northeast lines were first surveyed in
an original survey by Albert Solberg. Solberg's map is filed with the Marion
County Surveyor as Survey No. 18253. For the one monument that was
reset, Ringnalda's measured distances (as shown in MCSR 37241) from
nearby monuments were used to reestablish the corner monument. The east
line is the north—south sixteenth line in the northeast quarter of Section 11.
this line there have been a variety of opinions regarding the correct location.
The Bureau of Land Management differed with many surveys, including
some of its own administrative surveys. Under the current manual, the
differences might be viewed as not beyond mere technical error and slight
angles placed in the line. However, the BLM survey was done under the
1973 Manual, according to appropriate practice for the time, and is the
official survey for the line. Therefore, I have adopted the Bureau of Land
Management location. The dimensions shown along the line are to the
perpendicular point unless otherwise indicated. Because of this, there are no
prior records that show comparable distances except the BLM offsets, which
have shown for comparison. It should be noted that Ringnalda's survey
was in progress for more than a decade. The locations of Ringnaldo's
monuments shown by BLM seem to indicate that while the survey was in
progress, Ringnalda became aware of the difference and moved his
monuments. The line was flagged, and fiberglass posts marked "AZIMUTH
SURVEYING" were set at intervals along the lines and on the line adjacent to
existing monuments.
