CHARTER AMENDMENT FOR VOTER APPROVAL OF ANNEXATIONS

QUESTION: Shall City of Mt. Angel Charter require voter approval for all non-mandated annexations to take effect?

SUMMARY: This measure would amend the Mt. Angel City Charter. It would add a requirement of City voter approval before annexations could take effect. Under state law the City Council may now approve annexations to the City. This measure would not apply to annexations required by state law such as those for public health reasons.
