wonder what type of city they will inherit. City Council will always dictate
what Salem will look like in the future. City Councilors have a responsibility
to leave Salem in better shape than before. As we plan for the future. City Council needs to
adopt policies that will most efficiently transport people, goods, &
services around town. Any policy adopted must respect each property owner
impacted and their input must be sought out. Salems crime rate is 2.3 times the national
average; yet we only have just over half the national average in police staff.
We are inadequately protected. My budget priorities will reflect this belief. All our budget items should be scrutinized and
prioritized, emphasizing what we as a city have to do, and then consider what
we want to do. I will bring rational and practical- not political-
decision-making skills to the budget process. Visit www.brentdehart.com Endorsements: 2004 Salem First Citizen: Anna M.
