dissent is essential for a healthy democracy. All kinds
of people with diverse opinions live within the borders of Marion County. True
leadership should engage our differences to forge a future together. I question
whether the current county leadership can reach out to those with differing
opinions when all three county commissioners are from the same political party.
Democracy does not thrive in a situation where everyone always agrees. My
contribution to the Marion County Commission will be to bring another viewpoint
to the decisions of the commission and also to help create an environment where
differing opinions are not just respected but truly welcomed. If elected
I will work to encourage more people to engage in our County government. I
firmly believe the best decisions come from an open public process. The County
Commission needs some balance. (To Spanish
