MEASURE NO. 24-118 City of Stayton Argument in Favor: The Stayton Family Memorial Pool was covered in 1997, thanks to the Madlinger Trust. The Pool is a valuable resource, which meets the needs of health and fitness for Stayton families. The experiences families have with their children can make a significant difference in their economic success and emotional stability. The Pool is a key that opens the door to a healthier community. Pool Supervisor Julie Louden is a long time Stayton resident who has extensive experience supervising and teaching pool programs. Julie surrounds herself with professional caring staff who under her leadership, offer quality, affordable programs. The Pool supports local swim teams (YMCA Manta Rays Swim Team and the Stayton High School Swim Team) which fosters youth fitness, competition, work ethic, teamwork, and leadership. The YMCA Swim Team competes in State, District, and Regional competitions, while the Stayton High Swim Team members continually qualify at State Championship competitions. These award winning Swim Teams need the continued support of our community. The Swimming Pool offers programming for all ages or interests. Programming includes aerobic classes, arthritic rehabilitation, healthy back, physical therapy for mobility limited patrons, swimming lessons, lap swimming, and an “every child a swimmer” program for all 3rd graders in our community. The Pool offers something for everyone in the community from the very young to the elderly. To maintain these programs, it is vital that the Pool remain open year round. You can help achieve this goal by supporting the new Pool, Library and Park Levy which will replace the current levy due to expire in June 2005. The new levy will allow the City to maintain current Swimming Pool hours of operation, paint the interior of the building, install lockers, complete exterior concrete work, and install a public address (PA) system. These improvements will benefit the pool patrons as well as the Stayton community at large. Save Stayton’s Pool Programs, Vote “YES” for the Pool, Library & Park tax levy.
