MEASURE NO. 24-77

City of Stayton

Argument in Favor:

Once again, the Library, Parks and Pool local option tax measure is before you for a vote. And, once again, we are counting on your support! Voters supported the levy in the last election, but not enough people voted. Please support it again! Please vote, and vote “Yes”!!

This measure replaces an expiring three year levy of $100,000 per year with a new three year levy of $236,300 per year that will help support the Library and Pool and also add needed equipment to some of our existing parks. So much potential good, yet for most of us it shouldn’t cost more in additional taxes than the value of renting a video each month (about $40 per year).

We need to replace outdated computer technology in the Library, restore hours open to the public and purchase new books and periodicals. Many maintenance projects have been put on hold due to a chronic finding shortage, which the passage of this levy will help overcome.

The Pool needs upgrades to its chlorination system, boiler room and showers that will make the Pool run more efficiently and safely. Our Pool is used by citizens young and old throughout the day and we have championship swimmers who are counting on us to keep the pool open with our vote on this important levy!!

We have a Parks system that we can be proud of .... and keeping our parks safe for children to play in is an important part of that system. The Parks portion of the levy does that, with new play equipment in three of our different neighborhood parks.

When we look at the livability of a community like ours .... the things that make us want to be here .... good libraries, beautiful parks and functional swimming pools for our children and ourselves ought to be among our highest priorities!

Please vote “Yes” on Measure 24-77
