MEASURE NO. 24-30

City of Mt. Angel

Argument in Favor:

THE FACTS ON THE FOLTZ PROPERTY ANNEXATION

FACT: Dick and Madeline Foltz owned the property, adjacent to the city limits, for over 50 years.

FACT: Marion County and Mt. Angel classified the land for urban development many years ago.

FACT: Under an existing intergovernmental agreement, the Marion County Commissioners in Salem “presently retain responsibility for regulating land use on the land…until such lands are annexed by the city.”

FACT: Dick and Madeline Foltz applied for annexation in their waning years thus allowing their neighbors IN THE CITY to exercise final judgment on any proposal to develop the home site they loved so much.

FACT: None of the Foltz family wishes to live on the property nor are there any plans to develop the property at the present time.

FACT: The city planner and the city engineer recommended approval of the annexation.

FACT: If annexed, the property will pay property taxes to the City of Mt. Angel. Any development proposal will have to “pay its own way” for needed public improvements.

FACT: A “YES” vote assures Mt. Angel residents a strong voice in the future development, if any, of this property.

The Foltz Family Trust asks you to join in casting a yes vote on the annexation of this property.

VOTE YES, IT’S THE FAIR THING TO DO!
