VOTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARCH 10, 1998 SPECIAL
ELECTION
The only districts holding an election for March 10th are
the Gervais School District No.1 and the City of Gates.
When you get your ballot packet in the mail, after February 23, immediately examine
it to make certain it is complete. It should contain the following items:
- A printed ballot on which you may vote your choices;
- A secrecy envelope with voting instructions printed on it;
- A pre-addressed return envelope in which to return your ballot.
XXBrown return envelope for the Gervais School District.
XXBuff return envelope for the City of Gates.
If any items are missing contact Marion County Elections, 588-5041 (1-800-655-5388 if out of
the local calling area) and a replacement ballot will be sent to you.
VOTING YOUR BALLOT
Follow the instructions printed on your Secrecy Envelope. To vote YES or NO on a measure,
simply complete the arrow next to the vote of your choice. If you make an error on your
ballot, spoil it in any way or lose it, you may obtain a replacement ballot by contacting the
Elections Office at 588-5041 (1-800-655-5388 if out of the local calling area).
RETURNING YOUR VOTED BALLOT
Follow the instructions on the Secrecy Envelope. Fold your ballot along the pre-scored
folds and insert it into the Secrecy Envelope. Seal the Secrecy Envelope and insert it
into the brown/buff pre-addressed Return Envelope. Seal the Return Envelope and sign
the statement on the back of the envelope. Your ballot will not be counted if your
envelope is not signed.
Place one 32 cent stamp on the Return Envelope, and mail it so that it is received in the
Marion County Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on March 10, 1998. IMPORTANT: YOUR VOTE
WILL NOT BE COUNTED IF IT IS NOT RECEIVED IN THE ELECTIONS OFFICE OR
DEPOSITED AT AN OFFICIAL DROP SITE BY 8:00 P.M. ON MARCH 10, 1998.
Election Office hours on March 10, 1998 are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
If you would rather vote in person you may bring your ballot to the Marion County Elections Office,
4263 Commercial St. S.E. #300, Salem, where a voting booth and ballot box are provided, or you
may drop your ballot at any of the sites listed on the ballot or the Voter Pamphlet Insert.
