OCCUPATION:

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Small Business Entrepreneur

Software/Firmware Engineer

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE:

8 Years Silverton City Councilor

4 Years Silverton Mayor

4 Years Silver Falls Library Board

My Priorities:

1: Provide essential city services at the lowest possible cost.

2: Maintain ‘hometown’ lifestyle by remaining a small town.

3: Make our downtown ‘pedestrian friendly’.

I’m volunteering my knowledge and 12 years prior experience as Silverton Councilor and Mayor because we are facing some difficult decisions and I believe my common sense and direct ‘no nonsense’ style will be helpful.

I believe it’s time to slow Silverton’s growth before we run out of clean water and exceed our sewage treatment capacity. It will be very expensive to replace these facilities (again!) and that cost is paid mostly by current customers. We need to carefully manage our town to make it a safe, attractive and comfortable residential community.

The ‘growing pains’ of the Oregon Garden must not be allowed to adversely affect the residents and taxpayers of the City of Silverton. I will restore balance to our city government priorities by carefully considering the effects of Council actions on our entire community.

City government must encourage the business community to work toward making their stores and the business district attractive and accessible to customers and potential customers by concentrating on the essential issues and avoiding expensive fads and unproven “miracle fixes”.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I can recognize good ideas when I hear them. I’m pretty accessible - You know you can find me at The Palace when you have City Council issues.
