MEASURE NO. 24-147

Proposed
Salem Public Library District

Argument in Favor:

The Salem Public Library District plan has been 10 years in the making. All other possibilities for stable library service funding have been studied, tried and found wanting. City and County officials, the Library Advisory Board, the Salem Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Library, and library staff and volunteers have all worked to bring this issue to us, the voters of the proposed district.

For the Salem Public Library District to be established, two things must happen: a majority of voters vote ‘yes’ for the formation of the district and five candidates are elected to serve as the District’s Governing Board.

Please help the Central Library open its doors every day.

Please nurture life-long learning by assuring that our library has an adequate collection of books, large-print materials, multi-media items, and provides stimulating programs for youth and adults.

Please help the Library serve the research needs of our growing community.

Please allow the bookmobile, the West Salem Branch Library and other outreach programs to serve those who can’t get to the Central Library.

Please help our library reach its potential to serve our community with its unique hi-tech/hi-touch culture.

Please invest in the most accessible and most used service that a tax dollar can buy.

VOTE YES to establish the SALEM PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT.

ELECT the five members of the SALEM PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT BOARD.
