MEASURE NO. 24-128

City of Scotts Mills

Explanatory Statement:

This tax will pay for public safety services for the City of Scotts Mills in the summer months (June through September) and as needed throughout the year, for a period of three years. The City of Scotts Mills currently does not have regular police patrols. When citizens need police assistance, the average response time is approximately 35 to 40 minutes. During the summer months, the need for regular police patrols in the city increases due to increased visitors to the park, more traffic on the roads and children being out of school for the summer. This tax will pay for public safety services through a contract with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The services provided by the Sheriff’s Office will include regular patrols throughout the city, traffic enforcement, community enforcement, crime prevention and other public safety services.
