MEASURE NO. 24-127

Hubbard Rural Fire Protection District

Ballot Title:

Referred To The People By The District Board

Ten-Year Local Option Tax For Public Safety

Question: Shall Hubbard Fire District impose a $485,000 operating tax over ten years for purchasing a fire truck, beginning 2005/2006? This measure may cause property taxes to increase more than three percent.

Summary: The board of directors has determined the current fire truck needs to be replaced in order to best serve the residents of Hubbard Rural Fire Protection District. The District is seeking a ten-year local option tax of $48,500.00 per year, beginning in 2005-2006, to fund the acquisition of a new fire engine and fire fighting and fire protection equipment to operate the new fire engine, and to pay all costs incidental thereto. This tax would raise $485,000 over the 10-year period.

It is estimated that this tax will result in a rate of $.32 per $1,000 of assessed value in the first year. The tax on a $100,000 home would be $32 per year ($2.67 per month) for 10 years. The estimated tax cost for this measure is an ESTIMATE ONLY based on the best information available from the county assessor at the time of estimate.
