Dan Ostlund

OCCUPATION: Director of Marketing, SUPRA Products

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND: Business professional

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: BS, Oregon State University; MBA, University of Oregon

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: None

Chemeketa Community College has operated under the influence of exceptional leadership for many years. Its organizational infrastructure, curriculum and work-related programs provide a tremendous resource for employers and a comprehensive educational experience for residents throughout the Mid-Willamette Valley.

The College has paced curriculum expansion with significant changes in the surrounding community. New technology is used to support both fundamental and advanced learning experiences. Building upon all of its previous success, today Chemeketa is entering a critical transition point.

Changes in academic leadership. Creative use of “virtual” classroom environments. Educational opportunities for remote students. Growing opportunities for cultural diversity. And stronger associations with local business that cultivates viable human resource pools.

I appreciate the positive value that community colleges offer local residents. As a potential director on the board, I can contribute to academic initiatives by offering the insight gained from 20-plus years of business experience. I am conscious of providing accessible and diverse services for residents to the east of Salem, in the Santiam corridor and the Detroit Lake region. It is imperative that organizational objectives be clearly understood to determine the best means for allocating resources and expanding services to all residents. I ask for your support by electing me to the Chemeketa Community College Board of Education, Zone 4.
