Bob Heist

OCCUPATION: Retired

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND: 37 years with IBM, working in various technical support positions, retiring as a Computer Software and Networking Consultant; US Navy 1955-1958

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: I am currently serving on the City of Silverton Budget Committee

I am an avid user and supporter of library services and an advocate of the library continuing to provide useful services to the community. I support open access to library materials.

If selected, I would participate enthusiastically in the business brought before the board and would encourage the library to explore innovative approaches to continue to provide information services to it’s users.

A library is not just a building full of books, but a combination of people, materials, information and tools that provide a resource to the community. Access to and dissemination of knowledge in the information age is increasingly important. I hope to assist the library in finding and implementing effective new technology systems and delivery methods for access to information.

I have lived in Silverton for 2 1/2 years, consider myself very fortunate to be living here and would appreciate the opportunity to serve the community and the Silver Falls Library District.
